Compensation
There are three different types of compensation included in the Settlement.
The Administrator is processing claims submitted and making compensation payments to eligible claimants.
Compensation is available for Impacted First Nations and eligible individuals subject to a drinking water advisory that lasted at least one year between November 20, 1995 and June 20, 2021.
Some claims may take longer to process than others. Factors that require extra time include:
- incomplete claim forms,
- the need for additional information,
- the submission of multiple claims for a single individual, or
- claims submitted on behalf of a minor or claims for Specified Injuries
Once the Administrator decides whether your claim is eligible for Individual Damages compensation, they will send a letter to your mailing address explaining the decision. If you disagree with the decision, you have 60 days to request an appeal.
Payments will be made by cheque or direct deposit, according to the preference you indicated on your Claim Form. if your banking information changed after you submitted your Claim Form, your payment will be issued by cheque instead of by direct deposit.
